Nigel Veilleux took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ambroise Gilbert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tracy Martin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the match, Downsview's goal looked a bit too open when Ambroise Gilbert came free, but Nigel Veilleux reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Neguac getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Alain Smalls hit a great ball. In the 28th match minute, Downsview was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco L'Angelier to maneuver through the defense. Downsview's Nigel Veilleux played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ambroise Gilbert in the 33rd minute of play. In the 40th minute, Jules Bunch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Larry Denson in the 44th minute of play forced Neguac's goalkeeper Gail Stearns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Barton Werner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

53 minutes into the game, Alain Smalls was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Neguac's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Downsview the free kick. After a rather tough play, Neguac's Alain Smalls got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Downsview's Larry Denson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Neguac's Jules Bunch in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
