Don Kilgore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christian Fluet having to interfere. Darell Cullen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basil Richmond, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Adalberto Villanueva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Matapedia getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Manual Crowley hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Don Kilgore managed to get in a good position for a shot. Duffield's supporters rose to their feet, but Don Kilgore was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christian Fluet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matapedia's Basil Richmond got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 46 played minutes Matapedia got a freekick which was hit by Willy Longpré.

Don Kilgore struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Christian Fluet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Duffield. Darell Cullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Basil Richmond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Duffield's Darell Cullen got control of the ball when Basil Richmond tried to sneak it across the goal line.
