An unexpectedly hard shot by Valentin Despins in the 3rd minute of play forced Burgis FC's goalkeeper Lynn Akers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valentin Despins's late challenge caught a Burgis FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valentin Despins helped the player get up and apologised. Valentin Despins hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The supporters of Mattawa booed when Burgis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Putnam didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilles Easley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louis Mahoney in the 10th minute of play. Gilles Easley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Louis Mahoney, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute, Houston Ouellet ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lynn Akers was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Houston Ouellet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lynn Akers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Félix Vasquez hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Lynn Akers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valentin Despins's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. In the 33rd minute, Mattawa's Valentin Despins dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Houston Ouellet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Lynn Akers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Neal Goldman hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. If Louis Mahoney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Damien Bradshaw got free with Gilles Easley in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lawrence Hodge kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After having played for 55 minutes, Louis Mahoney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burgis FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis Mahoney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Derrick Cassidy during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 57 minutes into the match, Mattawa's Houston Ouellet sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lynn Akers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, Valentin Despins had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lynn Akers. Burgis FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentin Despins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Valentin Despins struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Lynn Akers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mattawa. After a rather tough play, Burgis FC's Damian Staley got a free kick in the 68th minute. 73 minutes into the match, Burgis FC's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Despins came free, but Lynn Akers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Burgis FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Derrick Cassidy hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Houston Ouellet's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lynn Akers was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Lynn Akers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Houston Ouellet, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Louis Mahoney recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Burgis FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
