Daniel Jacques who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Paschal Parmentier when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Richmond's Paschal Parmentier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Richmond from getting a goal against them. After having played for 26 minutes, Cruz Boucher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Richmond's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cruz Boucher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Philippe Pruitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Troy English showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Étienne Rose, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Odell Aubé fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Troy English having to interfere. Étienne Rose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicky Mahoney to make the kick off. Paschal Parmentier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Mahoney, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fredric Katz charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The supporters of Montmartre booed when Richmond was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reyes Cantin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicky Mahoney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Cruz Boucher managed to get in a good position for a shot. Richmond's supporters rose to their feet, but Cruz Boucher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Troy English breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
