When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Barnabé Burns sped through Edzo AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Derek Edmonds. Anton Ruth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Paschal Parmentier made a huge save. In the 18th minute Absolon Gonzalez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paschal Parmentier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derek Edmonds showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cruz Boucher, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Derek Edmonds took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cruz Boucher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Richmond's Odell Aubé got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Cruz Boucher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Derek Edmonds tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 39 minutes of play, Richmond's Barnabé Burns made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Derek Edmonds was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 46 minutes, Absolon Gonzalez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edzo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Absolon Gonzalez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Absolon Gonzalez to make the kick off. Barnabé Burns struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Cruz Boucher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Edmonds having to interfere. Derek Edmonds showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barnabé Burns, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Paschal Parmentier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Absolon Gonzalez in the 84th minute of the match. If Barnabé Burns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute, Cruz Boucher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
