After 18 minutes, Norman Denson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rathburn FC and the Maynooth players grew even worse after the yellow card. Norman Denson kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mickey Grondin to make the kick off.
