The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Willie Roberson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lance Duplessis. That made the score 1-0 in the 3 minute of play. Lloydminster FC's Jayson Maher got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Willie Roberson put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Lance Duplessis. In the 18th minute Neal Benjamin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theron Dickens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Wilson Hughes came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Lucerne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilson Hughes couldn't finish the play. Lloydminster FC's Lance Duplessis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Lloydminster FC from getting a goal against them. Wilson Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lance Duplessis having to interfere. After 27 played minutes Lloydminster FC got a freekick which was hit by Frank Mayberry. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Wilson Hughes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lucerne's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilson Hughes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lance Duplessis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilson Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Theron Dickens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neal Benjamin, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Ned Fremont recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jayson Maher made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Willie Roberson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lucerne's supporters rose to their feet, but Willie Roberson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lance Duplessis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lloydminster FC's goalkeeper Lance Duplessis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, Lloydminster FC's goal looked a bit too open when Willie Roberson came free, but Lance Duplessis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Frank Mayberry took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Theron Dickens to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 75 minutes, Neal Benjamin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lloydminster FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neal Benjamin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Neal Benjamin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Hughes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lloydminster FC's goalkeeper Lance Duplessis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Lucerne defense, Neal Benjamin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Theron Dickens. The Lucerne fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Theron Dickens should have stopped the shot. Lloydminster FC's Lance Duplessis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willie Roberson in the 92nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Willie Roberson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lucerne's supporters rose to their feet, but Willie Roberson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lance Duplessis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Lloydminster FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
