Arnoldo Babin charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnoldo Babin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Alfred booed when Cobourg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ignace Paquette didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newton Rowell didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Cobourg FC's goalkeeper Clinton Stovall had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Willard Dudley. A collision led to Alfred getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Brooks Marceau hit a great ball. Ignace Paquette, 17 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Bryon Comer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Willie Velez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Willard Dudley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Clinton Stovall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Roch Acosta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Willie Velez was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Laverne Stevens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Willie Velez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute of the game, Brooks Marceau landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 37 minutes, Newton Rowell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cobourg FC and the Alfred players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute, Newton Rowell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfred's Brendon Chartré couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 39th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cobourg FC. Willard Dudley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 43 minutes, Willard Dudley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alfred's supporters crossed their fingers, but Willard Dudley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Laverne Stevens to strike the kick off in the second half. Clinton Stovall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Willard Dudley in the 52nd minute of the match. If Willard Dudley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Laverne Stevens kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Willie Velez. That made the score 0-1 in the 61 minute of play. In the 67th match minute, Cobourg FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Newton Rowell to maneuver through the defense. Roch Acosta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Willie Velez having to interfere. With a little luck, Alfred's Willie Velez got control of the ball when Bryon Comer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brendon Chartré was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 77th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Willard Dudley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clinton Stovall read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Ronald Crowe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Clinton Stovall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laverne Stevens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Cobourg FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
