In the 14th minute Kasey Espinoza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willie Velez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 18 played minutes, Alfred's Baptiste White shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Robert Hatch came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alfred reached it. A collision led to Varennes AFC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Colin Kilgore hit a great ball. In the 24th minute, Brendon Chartré sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Varennes AFC's Robert Hatch didn't even have to move. After 25 minutes, Leslie Trejo made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Varennes AFC's Robert Hatch tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 29 played minutes Alfred got a freekick which was hit by Nickolas Lehman. Varennes AFC's Fernand Garza shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 30th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Willie Velez but with some difficulty. Leslie Trejo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Hatch having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leslie Trejo to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Kent Morales was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Varennes AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alfred the free kick. In the 53rd match minute, Varennes AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kent Morales to maneuver through the defense. Robert Hatch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leslie Trejo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Alfred getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Arnoldo Babin hit a great ball. After 62 played minutes Alfred got a freekick which was hit by Nickolas Lehman. After having played for 67 minutes, Willard Dudley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alfred's supporters crossed their fingers, but Willard Dudley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute of the match Fernand Garza sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Willie Velez skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Varennes AFC's zone, Leslie Trejo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robert Hatch came out of the goal and Leslie Trejo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leslie Trejo in the 81st minute of play forced Varennes AFC's goalkeeper Robert Hatch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robert Hatch made an important save on a dangerous shot by Willard Dudley in the 83rd minute. Logan Lespérance sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kasey Espinoza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Logan Lespérance received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Willie Velez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfred were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
