The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfonzo Patel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santo Curran in the 3rd minute of the match. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fiacre Ratté prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alfonzo Patel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santo Curran, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Alfonzo Patel made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Julian Whitehead sent off a good shot on target. 13 minutes into the game, one of Carmi AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Julian Whitehead could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Alfonzo Patel made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Carson Walker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carmi AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carson Walker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fiacre Ratté breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 21st minute Fermin Benoit shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fiacre Ratté saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jay Lord in the 22nd minute of play forced Valleyfield's goalkeeper Fiacre Ratté to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Jay Lord fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carmi AFC's protests and gave Jay Lord a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th match minute, Carmi AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jay Lord to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Jay Lord sped through Valleyfield's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fiacre Ratté. Julian Whitehead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jay Lord fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiacre Ratté having to interfere. Santo Curran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonzo Patel having to interfere. After having played for 67 minutes, Santo Curran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valleyfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santo Curran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Julian Whitehead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Valleyfield's Lavern Laderoute got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Jay Lord sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arturo Jacob took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fiacre Ratté. Valleyfield's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Julian Whitehead managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valleyfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Whitehead was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfonzo Patel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Jay Lord kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fiacre Ratté. That made the score 1-2 in the 94 minute of play. The Carmi AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Carmi AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
