Octavio Toney's late challenge caught a Taloyoak FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Octavio Toney helped the player get up and apologised. After 17 played minutes Clermont got a freekick which was hit by Octavio Toney. After 18 minutes of play, Taloyoak FC's Terence Wise made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Royce Parsons was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bradford Lyon struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Pedro Swenson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clermont. Salvador Earl who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Royce Parsons when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Royce Parsons made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salvador Earl in the 34th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Clermont's Léandre Bilodeau sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Swenson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Kenton Mendoza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After having played for 69 minutes, Bradford Lyon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
