Nazaire Bloom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lyle Christie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dewey Hutchinson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Austin Benedict having to interfere. In the 10th match minute, Griffins AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joël Lin to maneuver through the defense. Austin Benedict showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emery Hurley, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Yong Weathers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dewey Hutchinson came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Gunworth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dewey Hutchinson couldn't finish the play. Austin Benedict made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dewey Hutchinson in the 20th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Gunworth's Rufus Elias got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Gunworth's Nazaire Bloom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Gunworth from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Lyle Christie took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Nazaire Bloom to make any attempt to save it. Austin Benedict didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emery Hurley went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Austin Benedict stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emery Hurley's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Gautier Johns charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gautier Johns the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Gunworth booed when Griffins AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gautier Johns didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emery Hurley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emery Hurley to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Lyle Christie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nazaire Bloom was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. A well placed Emery Hurley short distance shot in the 56th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Joël Lin kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Dewey Hutchinson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Austin Benedict when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice moves Dewey Hutchinson could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Austin Benedict however easily saved by the left post. In the 67th minute, Gautier Johns hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gunworth's Emery Hurley was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 69th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After 72 played minutes Griffins AFC got a freekick which was hit by Robert Post. Austin Benedict was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Emery Hurley capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emery Hurley really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. Nazaire Bloom came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Griffins AFC's Lyle Christie. But to his dismay, Lyle Christie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Lyle Christie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nazaire Bloom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Nazaire Bloom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yong Weathers in the 83rd minute of play. With an all-out effort, Gunworth's Austin Benedict threw himself towards the right post 85 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emery Hurley, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 89 minutes into the match, Emery Hurley dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Austin Benedict, 2-6. After having played for 96 minutes, Emery Hurley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gunworth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emery Hurley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Gunworth supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gunworth would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
