The tension between the Lively AFC and the Waterville AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lively AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 8th minute. Penalty! In the 10th minute there was a penalty for Waterville AFC. Scotty McCloud stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Malik Pickett. 0-1. If Fidel Miles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute Max Beaver shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malik Pickett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Max Beaver might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Malik Pickett. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Max Beaver ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joey Hansen during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 26 played minutes Lively AFC got a freekick which was hit by Joey Hansen. Kennith Crowe came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Kermit Durham could save by the left post. The supporters of Lively AFC booed when Waterville AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boyce Vernon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kermit Durham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lupe Elmore in the 34th minute of play. Denis Belisle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Kermit Durham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Waterville AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Lupe Elmore came free, but Kermit Durham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lively AFC's Lupe Elmore got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Malik Pickett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fidel Miles in the 44th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Max Beaver was the one to do the kick off. Fidel Miles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malik Pickett having to interfere. 60 minutes into the game, Scotty McCloud was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Waterville AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lively AFC the free kick. Max Beaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malik Pickett having to interfere. Malik Pickett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Max Beaver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Waterville AFC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Boyce Vernon hit a great ball. Lupe Elmore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kermit Durham having to interfere. After some careless play in the Waterville AFC defense, Denis Belisle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kermit Durham. The Waterville AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kermit Durham should have stopped the shot. Lupe Elmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Kermit Durham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Denis Belisle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Waterville AFC got a freekick which was hit by Scotty McCloud. Lively AFC's Kendall Hachée got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lively AFC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
