In the 23rd match minute, Goodlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoffrey Christensen to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Goodlands's zone, Renard Shook stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Émilien Sheppard came out of the goal and Renard Shook tried to chip the ball over his head. Athalmer AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goodlands the free kick. A collision led to Athalmer AFC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Foster Kimbrough hit a great ball. 45 minutes into the game, Athalmer AFC's Foster Kimbrough nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Émilien Sheppard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Renard Shooks short, quick shot in the 91stth minute got Émilien Sheppard to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 92 minutes of play, Goodlands's Trent Krause made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Walton Deaton was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Athalmer AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Athalmer AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
