To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edgar FC's Boyd Alvarado got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jean Turgeon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boyd Alvarado in the 22nd minute of play. Lester Ryder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. After having played for 41 minutes, Lester Ryder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sandwith FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lester Ryder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Sandwith FC's Al Laws sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rod Cooley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rod Cooley was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Lester Ryder showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 44 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arden Dupre made a kick off. Lester Ryder struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Rod Cooley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lester Ryder, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 76 minutes into the match, Al Laws had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rod Cooley. Edgar FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Al Laws was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rich Deleon in the 86th minute of play forced Edgar FC's goalkeeper Rod Cooley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the game, one of Edgar FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Sandwith FC a penalty, 92 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Daryl Robillard, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Edgar FC's Rod Cooley. 4-0. 98 minutes into the match, Sandwith FC's goalkeeper Jean Turgeon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boyd Alvarado. Sandwith FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
