The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sydney Kay kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Patrick Beyer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Ott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Hermitage AFC's zone, Mark Mabry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Beyer came out of the goal and Mark Mabry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 10 played minutes Hilda got a freekick which was hit by Wilfredo Charest. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eric Croft got free with Jere Pena in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Andreas Norwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd match minute, Hermitage AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Telesphore Mueller to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute of the match Louie Sheridan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patrick Beyer skillfully saved the ball. In the 26th minute, Buck Benoit hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mark Mabry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Beyer having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Mark Mabry ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patrick Beyer was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Patrick Beyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Mabry in the 34th minute of play. Andreas Norwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jere Pena having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Hilda's goalkeeper Jere Pena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eric Croft. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mark Mabry was the one to do the kick off. Wilfredo Charest hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Andreas Norwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, Hilda's goal looked a bit too open when Andreas Norwood came free, but Jere Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jere Pena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andreas Norwood went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jarred McWilliams hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Mark Mabry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Casey Ott got free with Patrick Beyer in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th match minute, Hermitage AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarred McWilliams to maneuver through the defense. Casey Ott struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Patrick Beyer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal.
