When Kyle Madden came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Mawer fans jumped to their feet. Pennington's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mawer the free kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mariano Crowell was the one to do the kick off. Mariano Crowell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Oneill having to interfere. Peter Childress made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Rogelio Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, Mawer's goal looked a bit too open when Arlen Tatum came free, but Peter Childress reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Devine in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emerson Oneill prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 69th minute, Edmundo Devine got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Pennington's Rogelio Rodrigues, in the 80th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Pennington. Peter Childress made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Rogelio Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Rodrigues got free with Peter Childress in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
