Spectators: 6759 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1759, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Lucien Perdue made the kick off which started today's match. Tracey Bourgeau scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Randell Coulombe, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lucien Perdue received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Homer Paré tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tracey Bourgeau struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Randell Coulombe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mayne. Randell Coulombe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dick Dennis in the 20th minute of play. If Dick Dennis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rene Rowland in the 36th minute of play forced Mayne's goalkeeper Homer Paré to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 minutes, Delmer Barker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Neptune and the Mayne players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Neptune's Delmer Barker got a free kick in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dick Dennis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Randell Coulombe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tracey Bourgeau went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Tracey Bourgeau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neptune's Randell Coulombe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dick Dennis in the 60th minute of play. Lucien Perdue might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Homer Paré. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lucien Perdue ran back to his position shaking his head. Homer Paré made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien Perdue in the 65th minute of play. When Kristofer Howard fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mayne's protests and gave Kristofer Howard a yellow card for diving instead. Kristofer Howard hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Dick Dennis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mayne's supporters rose to their feet, but Dick Dennis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Randell Coulombe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 76th minute, Alain Brochu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dick Dennis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Randell Coulombe having to interfere. After 81 played minutes Mayne got a freekick which was hit by Landon Shipley. Homer Paré made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien Perdue in the 90th minute of play. Tracey Bourgeau blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Randell Coulombe having to make a save. The supporters of Mayne booed when Neptune was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baptiste Lowry didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tracey Bourgeau came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Mayne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tracey Bourgeau couldn't finish the play. The Mayne supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mayne would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
