In the 25th minute, Buster McDaniel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Piquitonay FC's Collin Loomis got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After recieving a nice pass, McGillivray AFC's Pascal Gates tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Nestor Despins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jere Kohler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Nestor Despins successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Lambert Tharp fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piquitonay FC's protests and gave Lambert Tharp a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Piquitonay FC's Collin Loomis got a free kick in the 41st minute. The supporters of McGillivray AFC booed when Piquitonay FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Collin Loomis didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Buster McDaniel to make the kick off.
