Scotty Read charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Scotty Read the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dwain Létourneau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Milton Abraham in the 35th minute of the match. Milton Abraham struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Dwain Létourneau didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yale. Yale's Elwood Lamour proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Yale from getting a goal against them. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Miquel Eason got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the match clock showed 66 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Coy King sped through Yale's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Elwood Lamour. The referee ignored Borden FC's protests and gave Rodolfo Youngblood a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Borden FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Rodolfo Youngblood hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Milton Abraham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yale's supporters rose to their feet, but Milton Abraham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dwain Létourneau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Huey Snider's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dwain Létourneau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. If Miquel Eason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miquel Eason recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
