In a very dangerous position, a player in Iona fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 2nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave Chignecto FC a penalty, 4 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Willie Baum, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Iona's Tyrell Redding. 0-1. Tyrell Redding came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Chignecto FC's Marlin Rouse. But to his dismay, Marlin Rouse quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Marlin Rouse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tyrell Redding having to interfere. Chignecto FC's Elisha Norris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tanner Glass in the 32nd minute of play. Ronnie Reid charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronnie Reid the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 34th minute, Ronnie Reid hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcellin Gallegos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elisha Norris having to make a save. Tyrell Redding showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Irvin Penn, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

60 minutes into the match, Chignecto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcellin Gallegos came free, but Elisha Norris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marlin Rouse in the 65th minute of play forced Iona's goalkeeper Tyrell Redding to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Irvin Penn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tyrell Redding read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Iona's goal looked a bit too open when Marlin Rouse came free, but Tyrell Redding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute Marlin Rouse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tyrell Redding saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marlin Rouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Tyrell Redding tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Irvin Penn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute, Marcellin Gallegos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marlin Rouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 101st minute. Tyrell Redding tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chignecto FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
