Roland Meier came out of the goal and Florence Nicholson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roland Meier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florence Nicholson in the 13th minute of play. Samual Flint in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jarrod Sargent, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 17 minutes into the match, Alfred AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Samual Flint came free, but Jarrod Sargent reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Hilton Byrd ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jarrod Sargent was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Hugo Staples kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Kareem Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Roland Meier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 35 minutes, Hilton Byrd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vermillion's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hilton Byrd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hilton Byrd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrod Sargent having to interfere. Samual Flint sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th match minute, Alfred AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nathanial Hardy to maneuver through the defense. If Samual Flint had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Florence Nicholson made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Samual Flint left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vermillion fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The audience was convinced that Florence Nicholson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roland Meier was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Jarrod Sargent showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hilton Byrd in the 64th minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the match, Kareem Garcia got a very nice opportunity to score, but Roland Meier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Kareem Garcia struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Roland Meier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alfred AFC. Jarrod Sargent made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hilton Byrd in the 74th minute of play. When Vermillion's Samual Flint in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alfred AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samual Flint in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jarrod Sargent prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jarrod Sargent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hilton Byrd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kareem Garcias short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Roland Meier to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Alfred AFC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vermillion.
