Spectators: 6725 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Del Guillory started the match with the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Del Guillory got free with Roland Meier in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Vermillion getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Dillon Whitt hit a great ball. The long shot by Jerold Lloyd in the 10th minute really tested Roland Meier's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Roland Meier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Del Guillory in the 12th minute of the match. Del Guillory fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Meier having to interfere. Valentin Cyr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vanguard's Chauncey Borden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samual Flint in the 22nd minute of play. When Valentin Cyr came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Vanguard fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Cyr couldn't finish the play. After 28 minutes, Darnell Delarosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vanguard and the Vermillion players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Del Guillory came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Vanguard fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Del Guillory couldn't finish the play. Chauncey Borden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samual Flint's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute, Kerry Charlesbois hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Hilton Byrd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vanguard's goalkeeper Chauncey Borden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Samual Flint received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Chauncey Borden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th match minute, Vanguard was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darnell Delarosa to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Vermillion's Samual Flint slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Chauncey Borden. That made the score 0-1 after 57 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Del Guillory in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roland Meier saved Vermillion from getting behind. Samual Flint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chauncey Borden having to interfere. If Valentin Cyr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kerry Charlesbois during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Vanguard getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Kerry Charlesbois hit a great ball. Augustine Duclos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 84th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vanguard's Kerry Charlesbois got a free kick in the 90th minute. After 93 minutes Vanguard's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Augustine Duclos who took care of the corner kick. Augustine Duclos made a great header on Vermillion's corner, it was just that Vanguard's Chauncey Borden managed to reach the ball for a save. Del Guillory sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Vermillion supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vermillion would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
