If Austin McGuire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ramon Maddox took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austin McGuire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Roland Lang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rosario McCoy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerold Lemaître in the 24th minute of play. Craig Echeverri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Rosario McCoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Elliot Blalock was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Montreal BJK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whaletown FC the free kick. After 31 played minutes Montreal BJK got a freekick which was hit by Elliot Blalock. After a defensive mix-up in Whaletown FC's zone, Jerold Lemaître stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rosario McCoy came out of the goal and Jerold Lemaître tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Whaletown FC's Von Braun got a free kick in the 38th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Montreal BJK's goalkeeper Ramon Maddox had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roland Lang. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Craig Echeverri stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Whaletown FC's zone, Jerold Lemaître stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rosario McCoy came out of the goal and Jerold Lemaître tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thibault Bertrand got his second yellow card in the match during the 57th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 57 played minutes Whaletown FC got a freekick which was hit by Thibault Bertrand. In the 59th minute of the match Elliot Blalock sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rosario McCoy skillfully saved the ball. In the 66th minute, Montreal BJK's Craig Echeverri dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Jerold Lemaître could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Rosario McCoy made a huge save. Craig Echeverri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Rosario McCoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Craig Echeverri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Von Braun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Montreal BJK's Craig Echeverri got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Whaletown FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Montreal BJK's performance. The match ended with a win for Montreal BJK.
