Kinnaird AFC's Gerard Thurman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Craig Echeverri in the 25th minute of play. Lane Compton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramon Maddox having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Craig Echeverri reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gerard Thurman. The goal made the score 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lane Compton to make the kick off.
