Stevie Gaudreau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Michaud in the 19th minute of play. Stevie Gaudreau took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Michaud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sid Michaud sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 35 minutes, Sid Michaud managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Finnegan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sid Michaud was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bryan Reid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Stevie Gaudreau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Finnegan FC's Sid Michaud sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stevie Gaudreau narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Bryan Reid managed to get in a good position for a shot. Finnegan FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Bryan Reid was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stevie Gaudreau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bruce Sanders stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Sid Michaud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beaverdam AFC's Stevie Gaudreau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bryan Reid in the 54th minute of play. After 55 minutes, Ward Ledbetter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Finnegan FC and the Beaverdam AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Finnegan FC's Ward Ledbetter got a free kick in the 55th minute. Dick Villalobos, 56 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Herb Ruel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
