Constant Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timothy Landers having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Mazenod FC's zone, Davis Rowell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ben Tucker came out of the goal and Davis Rowell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cecil Benavides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ben Tucker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Earl Leon's late challenge caught a Mazenod FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Earl Leon helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Newbrook AFC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Earl Leon hit a great ball. After 37 played minutes, Mazenod FC's Charlie Overton shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Timothy Landers came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mazenod FC reached it. Ben Tucker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cecil Benavides in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of Newbrook AFC booed when Mazenod FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Mabry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ben Tucker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cecil Benavides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Josh Garza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Constant Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Timothy Landers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 55th minute of the match, Art Gaulin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Timothy Landers saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that Cecil Benavides's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ben Tucker was relentless in the 56th minute of the game.
