Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Garry Duffy made the kick off which started today's match. After 3 minutes of play, Summerside FC's Florence Dick made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jorge Dodd was left in no man's land by his defense there! Summerside FC's Carroll Corbett got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Newport's goalkeeper Jorge Dodd had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Florence Dick. Jorge Dodd made an important save on a dangerous shot by Florence Dick in the 23rd minute. A collision led to Newport getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Garry Duffy hit a great ball. If Carroll Corbett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carroll Corbett in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Dodd prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Garry Duffy came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Newport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garry Duffy couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Carroll Corbett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Summerside FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carroll Corbett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Dodd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carroll Corbett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

After some careless play in the Newport defense, Porter Murry kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorge Dodd. The Newport fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorge Dodd should have stopped the shot. 55 minutes into the match, Newport's goal looked a bit too open when Florence Dick came free, but Jorge Dodd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Florence Dick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Jorge Dodd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Dodd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carroll Corbett in the 66th minute of the match. Summerside FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Leslie Hatfield in the 69th minute. Florence Dick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Dodd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carroll Corbett, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Jorge Dodd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carroll Corbett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 75 minutes, Carroll Corbett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Summerside FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carroll Corbett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carroll Corbett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Dodd having to interfere. Carroll Corbett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Jorge Dodd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Florence Dick's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Dodd was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. When Summerside FC's Carroll Corbett in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newport's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee ended the match the Summerside FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
