When Dannie Sylvester came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Athletic Club Academical fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dannie Sylvester couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Athletic Club Academical getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ernesto Schmitz hit a great ball. After 12 played minutes, Albany AFC's Robert Fluet shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Svatomír Kaiser came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Albany AFC reached it. 13 minutes in the game, Dannie Sylvester fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere. If Dannie Sylvester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Darell Perry left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Athletic Club Academical fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 23rd minute Fernando Foreman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederic Jimenez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederic Jimenez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dannie Sylvester in the 26th minute of the match. Athletic Club Academical's Fernando Foreman got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Darell Perry managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athletic Club Academical's supporters rose to their feet, but Darell Perry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frederic Jimenez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Darell Perry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rickey Boston was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 37th minute. Athletic Club Academical's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Darell Perry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Dannie Sylvester had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Frederic Jimenez. Albany AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dannie Sylvester was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Dannie Sylvester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere.

The wind increased when Joël John made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Darell Perry notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Albany AFC's Frederic Jimenez. Frederic Jimenez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dannie Sylvester blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frederic Jimenez having to make a save. If Rickey Boston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, Athletic Club Academical's goalkeeper Svatomír Kaiser had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Herman. Ernesto Schmitz kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. A collision led to Athletic Club Academical getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Kris Bonneville hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Joël John's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Svatomír Kaiser was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joël John in the 69th minute of play forced Athletic Club Academical's goalkeeper Svatomír Kaiser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darell Perry in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frederic Jimenez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Dannie Sylvester managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athletic Club Academical's supporters rose to their feet, but Dannie Sylvester was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When Athletic Club Academical's Erasmo Colon in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Albany AFC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 91st match minute, Albany AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toney McAllister to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute, Dannie Sylvester got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fernando Foreman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Jimenez having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Athletic Club Academical players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
