Rex Brunault scored 1-0 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alec Deblois, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gatineau FC's Alec Deblois proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Gatineau FC from getting a goal against them. If Cory Spears had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the game, Gatineau FC's Jed Hammer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Winfred Granger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Jed Hammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Edmundo Coté came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Gatineau FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Coté couldn't finish the play. When Mario Gallegos fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canada FC's protests and gave Mario Gallegos a yellow card for diving instead. After 24 played minutes Canada FC got a freekick which was hit by Mario Gallegos. Winfred Granger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cory Spears, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Cory Spears received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Winfred Granger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Winfred Granger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jed Hammer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute of the match Gatineau FC got a corner. Canada FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cornell Lentz ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 44 minutes Canada FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cornell Lentz who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Gatineau FC's corner Cornell Lentz fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Winfred Granger quite easily take care of the ball. Jed Hammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Winfred Granger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jed Hammer in the 49th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jesus Crowder to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Jesus Crowder got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cory Spears had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Canada FC's Winfred Granger got control of the ball when Cory Spears tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jesus Crowder might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alec Deblois. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jesus Crowder ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Cory Spears put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Winfred Granger. The Canada FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Winfred Granger should have stopped the shot. 88 minutes into the match, Rex Brunault notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Gatineau FC's Alec Deblois. Alec Deblois was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Gatineau FC booed when Canada FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stacy Ayala didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 98 played minutes Canada FC got a freekick which was hit by Reuben Brewer. When Cory Spears came up free with the goalie in the 99th minute, the Gatineau FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cory Spears couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Gatineau FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Canada FC.
