But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gordon Grimes couldn't finish the play. 22 minutes into the match, Exstew FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reuben Kitchen came free, but Brice Pollock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Fidel Sorensen fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Exstew FC's protests and gave Fidel Sorensen a yellow card for diving instead. Fidel Sorensen hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. When Roderick Sapp came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Gate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roderick Sapp couldn't finish the play. Brice Pollock made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Roderick Sapp sent off a good shot on target. Ramiro Kent showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Al LaGarde in the 29th minute of the match. Brice Pollock didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roderick Sapp went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After 40 played minutes Hilton McCarthy rounded Exstew FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Odell Johnston during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Gate getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Odell Johnston hit a great ball. Ramiro Kent made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Al LaGarde in the 45th minute of play. Gordon Grimes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Al LaGarde made the kick off in the second half. Hilton McCarthy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute Al LaGarde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Kent saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Gate's Ramiro Kent got control of the ball when Gordon Grimes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Exstew FC's zone, Roderick Sapp stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brice Pollock came out of the goal and Roderick Sapp tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Al LaGarde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Gate were the better team. Gate's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
