Léandre Norman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 15 minutes into the match, Federico May dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Clint Deaton, 2-0. In the 20th match minute, Varennes AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Léandre Norman to maneuver through the defense. When Federico May came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Varennes AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Federico May couldn't finish the play. Perry Keller charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Perry Keller the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Léandre Norman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Branden Phelps's late challenge caught a Varennes AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Federico May was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 33rd minute. Varennes AFC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 37 minutes into the match, Robbie Peterson sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Clint Deaton threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Robbie Peterson this time. The Varennes AFC fans' excitement grew in the 39th match minute when Varennes AFC's Léandre Norman looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Federico May had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Federico May sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Léandre Norman was the one to do the kick off. Roch Woods blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Clint Deaton having to make a save. Shad Ladner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olin Chavis in the 55th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the game, Federico May cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Clint Deaton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Clint Deaton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Léandre Norman, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 71 minutes into the game, one of FC Montreal 2012:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 82 minutes into the match, FC Montreal 2012's goal looked a bit too open when Léandre Norman came free, but Clint Deaton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
