In the 23rdth minute of the game Marco Shelton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Halifax Royals's Telesphore Anthony was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Dimitri Perdue came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Halifax Royals fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dimitri Perdue couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd minute, Dimitri Perdue fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Edmond Goodman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Rolando Courtois tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of South China United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Halifax Royals:s goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arlen Gaillard was the one to do the kick off. In the 59th minute Halifax Royals were awarded a corner. Jérémie Craven went to the cornerflag to take it. After having played for 62 minutes, Edmond Goodman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Halifax Royals's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmond Goodman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
