After a rather tough play, Simcoe FC's Claude Kay got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 10th minute, Odis Petrie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Simcoe FC's Walton Moore got control of the ball when Leland Trejo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 15th match minute, Simcoe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thad Dick to maneuver through the defense. Jourdain Cullen was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. MTL Impact's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claude Kay in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tracy Bélanger saved MTL Impact from getting behind. Odis Petrie scored 0-1 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tracy Bélanger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Odis Petrie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute, Robert Bler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Odis Petrie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claude Kay struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Tracy Bélanger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Simcoe FC. After 37 minutes, Iréné McQueen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Simcoe FC and the MTL Impact players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of MTL Impact booed when Simcoe FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iréné McQueen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute, Odis Petrie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tracy Bélanger was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 43rd minute Odis Petrie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tracy Bélanger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tracy Bélanger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Odis Petrie in the 45th minute of play. Odis Petrie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Leland Trejo made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Simcoe FC got a freekick which was hit by Claude Kay. Odis Petrie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Tracy Bélanger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Tracy Bélanger successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Odis Petrie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st match minute, Simcoe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Odis Petrie to maneuver through the defense. If Leland Trejo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Odis Petrie took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Tracy Bélanger to make any attempt to save it. Tracy Bélanger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Odis Petrie, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Tracy Bélanger came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Simcoe FC's Odis Petrie. But to his dismay, Odis Petrie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The Simcoe FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
