The referee ignored Thornbury's protests and gave Raymond Patel a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Thornbury getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Raymond Patel hit a great ball. Cliffside's Rudolf Haynes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Numan Yetkiner in the 23rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Adolphe Winn kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rüştü Rencber. That made the score 1-0 in the 25 minute of play. In the 28th match minute, Thornbury was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hong McMullen to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Numan Yetkiner in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rudolf Haynes saved Cliffside from getting behind. When Thornbury's Numan Yetkiner in 41 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Rudolf Haynes guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After a defensive mix-up in Cliffside's zone, Numan Yetkiner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rudolf Haynes came out of the goal and Numan Yetkiner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adolphe Winn to strike the kick off in the second half. But to his dismay, Alwin Kik quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. When Mugurel Grigoriu fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thornbury's protests and gave Mugurel Grigoriu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th minute, one of Thornbury:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Thornbury. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for Cliffside. Dario Velasquez stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rüştü Rencber. 3-1. Alwin Kik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Haynes having to interfere. Adolphe Winn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Thornbury defense, Gabriel Lambert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rüştü Rencber. The Thornbury fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rüştü Rencber should have stopped the shot.
