Canuck Stadium
Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5875,
Seating: 1575, VIP seats: 50) Simon Bousquet started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Simon Bousquet struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Graham Meyers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canuck. Canuck's Simon Bousquet got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to TFC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Rufus Leach hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Gaston Lamare sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and TFC's Graham Meyers didn't even have to move. 21 minutes into the match, Canuck's Gayle Ewing sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Graham Meyers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ulrich Marcum hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute, Emery Dubois got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Simon Bousquet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Graham Meyers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Graham Meyers made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Gayle Ewing sent off a good shot on target. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind TFC's goalkeeper Graham Meyers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Emery Dubois had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute, one of Canuck:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canuck. The referee gave TFC a penalty, 48 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Otis Hale, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Canuck's Mack Irvin. 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
After a rather tough play, Canuck's Simon Bousquet got a free kick in the 53rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emery Dubois in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mack Irvin saved Canuck from getting behind. With a little luck, Canuck's Mack Irvin got control of the ball when James Lugo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Graham Meyers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Bousquet in the 61st minute of the match. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 76th minute, but Mack Irvin got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Canuck hanging dry this time. Mack Irvin made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when James Lugo sent off a good shot on target. Graham Meyers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gayle Ewing in the 79th minute of the match. During the 80th minute of the match Ulrich Marcum completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ulrich Marcum a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of TFC booed when Canuck was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulrich Marcum didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daron Bruno charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daron Bruno the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Canuck! A collision led to Canuck getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Simon Bousquet hit a great ball. TFC's Graham Meyers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gayle Ewing in the 100th minute of play. After 100 minutes of play, Canuck's Gayle Ewing made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Graham Meyers was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. TFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
