Stanton Purcell might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adalberto Knapp. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stanton Purcell ran back to his position shaking his head. Stanton Purcell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Stanton Purcell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Fowler booed when Richmond FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shannon Aragon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brock Jalbert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nolan Lovett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the game, one of Richmond FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Brock Jalbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nolan Lovett in the 37th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Germain Flint ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Brock Jalbert was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Richmond FC's Brock Jalbert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nolan Lovett in the 44th minute of play. Maurice Carignan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Knapp having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanton Purcell in the 58th minute of play forced Fowler's goalkeeper Adalberto Knapp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nolan Lovett in the 61st minute of play forced Richmond FC's goalkeeper Brock Jalbert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute, Dorsey Crane hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fowler's Nolan Lovett got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A well placed Nolan Lovett short distance shot in the 67th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Stanton Purcell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adalberto Knapp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Fowler's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bertram Hatch in the 76th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Stanton Purcell notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Fowler's Adalberto Knapp. Adalberto Knapp was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Fowler booed when Richmond FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorsey Crane didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 81 minutes, Germain Flint managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fowler's supporters crossed their fingers, but Germain Flint was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Germain Flint struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Brock Jalbert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fowler. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fowler's goalkeeper Adalberto Knapp, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Richmond FC's Stanton Purcell in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fowler's goalie prevented a goal. After 94 played minutes Fowler got a freekick which was hit by Nolan Lovett. The audience was convinced that Maurice Carignan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adalberto Knapp was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. The Fowler supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fowler would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
