When Alfonso Finn fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Toronto FC's protests and gave Alfonso Finn a yellow card for diving instead. Lonny Gaston, 53 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 55th minute Jospeh Pelletier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Morris Minton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nelson Harden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Morris Minton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francisco Parnells short, quick shot in the 63rdth minute got Miles Burger to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 64 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Julio Altman. Morris Minton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hassan Deserres, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. If Jospeh Pelletier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jospeh Pelletier in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Morris Minton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jospeh Pelletier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Morris Minton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. If Nelson Harden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jospeh Pelletier in the 82nd minute of play forced Toronto FC's goalkeeper Morris Minton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jospeh Pelletier struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Morris Minton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. After 92 played minutes Toronto FC got a freekick which was hit by Ramon Crouch. Lonny Gaston took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Morris Minton. Toronto FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Morris Minton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jospeh Pelletier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
