The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raphael Brian during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Houston Grimes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Otis London in the 13th minute of the match. Houston Grimes came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Laval Kings's Philip Cortes. But to his dismay, Philip Cortes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Lucius Sullivan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trevor Hess read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Toronto AFC's zone, Philip Cortes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Houston Grimes came out of the goal and Philip Cortes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Scottie Chamberlain hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Scottie Chamberlain during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute, Scottie Chamberlain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Laval Kings's goalkeeper Trevor Hess had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Glenn McCollum. Philip Cortes struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Houston Grimes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laval Kings. Grégoire Duran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Houston Grimes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Grégoire Duran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Houston Grimes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Cortes in the 40th minute of the match. After 44 minutes, Noble Chadwick mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Laval Kings and the Toronto AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Glenn McCollum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Trevor Hess tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trevor Hess showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucius Sullivan, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Philip Cortes in the 55th minute of play forced Toronto AFC's goalkeeper Houston Grimes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Houston Grimes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 61st minute, Marvin White hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute, Logan McKinnon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Glenn McCollum came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Toronto AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glenn McCollum couldn't finish the play. When Glenn McCollum, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 70 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Trevor Hess was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Laval Kings's Grégoire Duran got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Philip Cortes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Houston Grimes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Philip Cortes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grégoire Duran's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Houston Grimes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Lucius Sullivan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, Otis London recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Houston Grimes. Otis London showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. If Philip Cortes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Toronto AFC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Laval Kings were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
