Raoul Labrie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abe Canales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didier Carey in the 8th minute of the match. Wembley's Agustin Rogers got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Filiberto Hand had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Tory Burt fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rapid Vienna's protests and gave Tory Burt a yellow card for diving instead. Tory Burt hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. A collision led to Rapid Vienna getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Serge Norbert hit a great ball. Eldridge Beausoleil struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Abe Canales didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wembley. If Agustin Rogers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Rapid Vienna's Tory Burt got a free kick in the 20th minute. Agustin Rogers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Abe Canales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Agustin Rogers was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Raoul Labrie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rapid Vienna's supporters rose to their feet, but Raoul Labrie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damien Hays breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Abe Canales stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agustin Rogers's shot from short distance in the 60th minute.
