The audience was convinced that Chi Lilly's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Terry Temple was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. If Monroe Hanley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Randell Hatfield had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gino Fontaine. Orangeville SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Randell Hatfield was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Terry Temple made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chi Lilly in the 41st minute of play. Gino Fontaine made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Randell Hatfield sent off a good shot on target. In the 49th play minute Randell Hatfield came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Gino Fontaine. 3-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Monroe Hanley to strike the kick off in the second half. Napoleon Fontaine's late challenge caught a Orangeville SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Napoleon Fontaine helped the player get up and apologised. Napoleon Fontaine hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Chi Lilly succeeded in the game's 56th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Randell Hatfield in the 60th minute of play forced Orangeville SC's goalkeeper Gino Fontaine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Monroe Hanley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Vélez Sarsfield getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Vance Migneault hit a great ball. Chi Lilly struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Terry Temple didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Orangeville SC. If Randell Hatfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 76 minutes into the match, Orangeville SC's goal looked a bit too open when Son Ball came free, but Gino Fontaine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vélez Sarsfield's Terry Temple played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monroe Hanley in the 77th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Orangeville SC's Fabien Grove got a free kick in the 80th minute. After having played for 87 minutes, Keith Torrez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vélez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Keith Torrez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Fabien Grove fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Orangeville SC's protests and gave Fabien Grove a yellow card for diving instead. Chi Lilly could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Terry Temple made a huge save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vélez Sarsfield fans cheered their team off the field, for while Orangeville SC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
