Rex Harden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ashley Ivey's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. After 9 played minutes Guoan got a freekick which was hit by Lazare Cervantes. A collision led to Guoan getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Gaétan Mathis hit a great ball. Rex Harden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ashley Ivey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ashley Ivey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 0-1 became the score in the 15th minute when Andy Sexton elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Newport Park's Ashley Ivey got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andy Sexton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Harden having to interfere. Tom Biggs was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Carroll Mooney capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Carroll Mooney really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After a rather tough play, Guoan's Randal McDowell got a free kick in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Guoan's zone, Andy Sexton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rex Harden came out of the goal and Andy Sexton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jean Oleary sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeo Faust hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Rex Harden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andy Sexton, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After 46 played minutes Newport Park got a freekick which was hit by George McClelland. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Tom Biggs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gaétan Mathis in the 78th minute of the match. Jean Oleary fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Harden having to interfere. Andy Sexton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeo Faust hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Newport Park played a much better game than Guoan and deserved their victory. The Guoan players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
