Stanley Lancaster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Harden having to interfere. 9 minutes into the game, Lazare Cervantes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guoan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gaskiers the free kick. After a rather tough play, Guoan's Lazare Cervantes got a free kick in the 9th minute. If Denver Le had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Gaskiers's zone, Carroll Mooney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ferdinand Cressac came out of the goal and Carroll Mooney tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes in the game, Carroll Mooney fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ferdinand Cressac having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Scot Peralta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gaétan Mathis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinand Cressac having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gaétan Mathis in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ferdinand Cressac prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ferdinand Cressac made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carroll Mooney in the 33rd minute. Denver Le sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ferdinand Cressac didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gaétan Mathis went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Gaétan Mathis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guoan's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaétan Mathis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ferdinand Cressac breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gaétan Mathis made a kick off. The Gaskiers supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gaskiers would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
