Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaétan Mathis in the 27th minute of play forced Champlain's goalkeeper Hilton Grant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute Gaétan Mathis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilton Grant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clinton Barnes struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Rex Harden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Champlain. Guoan's Carroll Mooney got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Gaétan Mathis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Champlain's goal looked a bit too open when Gaétan Mathis came free, but Hilton Grant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sylvester Brian was the one to do the kick off. Valère Bender's late challenge caught a Guoan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valère Bender helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Champlain getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Valère Bender hit a great ball. Glen Barbour hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 60 minutes into the match, Champlain's goal looked a bit too open when Carroll Mooney came free, but Hilton Grant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Sylvester Brian took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Rex Harden to make any attempt to save it. Clinton Barnes scored 2-2 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rex Harden, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaétan Mathis in the 81st minute of play forced Champlain's goalkeeper Hilton Grant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute Sylvester Brian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rex Harden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hilton Grant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaétan Mathis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Théophile Gillis hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match.
