Dundee United FC SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Robert Veronneau was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kris Cole breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Dundee United FC SC's zone, Augustine Whitaker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emerson Walter came out of the goal and Augustine Whitaker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 9 minutes into the match, Djazair Algeria Algérie's goalkeeper Kris Cole had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by François Blackmon. Moses Middleton charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Moses Middleton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th match minute, Dundee United FC SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moses Middleton to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute, Yunus Karanalp ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emerson Walter was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 23rd minute, Dundee United FC SC's François Blackmon ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kris Cole. Kris Cole yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. When Eliseo Gorman fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dundee United FC SC's protests and gave Eliseo Gorman a yellow card for diving instead. François Blackmon might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kris Cole. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. François Blackmon ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yunus Karanalp in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emerson Walter saved Dundee United FC SC from getting behind. Djazair Algeria Algérie were awarded a corner in the 44th minute after Dundee United FC SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Per-Erik Säv took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Dundee United FC SC's goalie and right to Dedé Lopes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Dundee United FC SC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Moses Middleton was shown his second yellow card after 56 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 56 played minutes Dundee United FC SC got a freekick which was hit by Moses Middleton. Emerson Walter came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Djazair Algeria Algérie's Yunus Karanalp. But to his dismay, Yunus Karanalp quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rayford Davenport during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 60th minute, Rayford Davenport hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Dundee United FC SC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Yunus Karanalp fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The supporters of Dundee United FC SC booed when Djazair Algeria Algérie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Morris Gould didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Dundee United FC SC's Miguel Fluet got a free kick in the 65th minute. Yunus Karanalp's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emerson Walter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Djazair Algeria Algérie's Kris Cole played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mack Guy in the 72nd minute of play. In the 77th match minute, Dundee United FC SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by François Blackmon to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 78 minutes, Yunus Karanalp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Djazair Algeria Algérie's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yunus Karanalp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rayford Davenport kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Dundee United FC SC defense, Yunus Karanalp kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emerson Walter. The Dundee United FC SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emerson Walter should have stopped the shot. Yunus Karanalp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rayford Davenport hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Yunus Karanalp took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Emerson Walter to make any attempt to save it. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Djazair Algeria Algérie walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
