After a rather tough play, Hurricanes FC's Amos Hopkins got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 13th minute, Hurricanes FC's Claudio Bermudez seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Claudio Bermudez the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Hurricanes FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Claudio Bermudez had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 12th minute, one of Hurricanes FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Hurricanes FC. 17 minutes into the match, Coquitlam F.C.'s goalkeeper Bert Labonté had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rickie Bourque. 21 minutes into the match, Nazaire Sprague notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby. Irvin Willoughby was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 24th minute, Fabien George got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Irvin Willoughby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandy Crowe in the 28th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Hurricanes FC defense, Leo Block kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Irvin Willoughby. The Hurricanes FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Irvin Willoughby should have stopped the shot. Irvin Willoughby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nazaire Sprague in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 55th match minute, Coquitlam F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Block to maneuver through the defense. Alfredo Larsen hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Alvaro Drake took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Irvin Willoughby. Hurricanes FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nazaire Sprague in the 64th minute of play. Rickie Bourque charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rickie Bourque the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Coquitlam F.C. booed when Hurricanes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rickie Bourque didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Rickie Bourque put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Bert Labonté. Saverio Niva kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Bert Labonté showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabien George, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Alvaro Drake's late challenge caught a Hurricanes FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Drake helped the player get up and apologised. Irvin Willoughby made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sandy Crowe in the 90th minute. When Fabien George came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Hurricanes FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabien George couldn't finish the play. The Coquitlam F.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
