Spectators: 8445 (Terracing: 6335, Seating: 1942, VIP seats: 168) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Derek Weston got the match started through his kick off. After a rather tough play, Portage's Désiré Rudd got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute of the match Fernando Strong shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nelson Wynn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 6th minute Antwan Culver shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Arsenault saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8th minute, Jeffrey Malone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Derek Weston managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate Mtl's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Weston was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelson Wynn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelson Wynn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Strong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. River Plate Mtl's Carlos Arsenault played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antwan Culver in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, River Plate Mtl's Cletus Laux nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nelson Wynn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Derek Weston sped through Portage's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nelson Wynn. Derek Weston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Nelson Wynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Derek Weston in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Wynn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cletus Laux received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Nelson Wynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Derek Weston's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelson Wynn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Derek Weston managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate Mtl's supporters crossed their fingers, but Derek Weston was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Derek Weston struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Nelson Wynn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate Mtl. If Leroy Dalton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Derek Weston's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelson Wynn was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Nelson Wynn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Derek Weston went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Derek Weston sped through Portage's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nelson Wynn. When Derek Weston came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the River Plate Mtl fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Derek Weston couldn't finish the play.

The wind increased when Bobbie Paul made the kick off in the second half. Derek Weston sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Weston kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 58th minute Jeffrey Malone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Arsenault saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derek Weston might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelson Wynn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Derek Weston ran back to his position shaking his head. Winston Guevara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Nelson Wynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leroy Dalton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Wynn having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in River Plate Mtl fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 69th minute. Penalty! 76 minutes into the game, River Plate Mtl's Winston Guevara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nelson Wynn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. Nelson Wynn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Strong in the 79th minute of play. After 83 minutes, Derek Weston made it 1-6 with a short kick to the right side. Portage's Nelson Wynn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 86 minutes, Nicodème Dejesus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portage and the River Plate Mtl players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of River Plate Mtl booed when Portage was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicodème Dejesus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Derek Weston sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cletus Laux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Derek Weston who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 92ndth minute tested the skills of Nelson Wynn when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Derek Weston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Nelson Wynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ira Ransom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River Plate Mtl's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
