After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Leroy Dalton managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate Mtl's supporters rose to their feet, but Leroy Dalton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clement Lutz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Messi FC's Clement Lutz got control of the ball when Leroy Dalton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Clement Lutz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Strong in the 11th minute of the match. Derek Weston received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clement Lutz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Derek Weston received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Clement Lutz came out and tried to block the shot, but Derek Weston slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Clement Lutz was a little too slow when Fernando Strong got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 3-0. A sloppy throw-in by Otto Ragsdale in the 26th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Messi FC's Emilio Neely. Winston Guevara's late challenge caught a Messi FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Winston Guevara helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Messi FC booed when River Plate Mtl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Winston Guevara didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lawrence Gaillard during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The wind increased when Derek Weston made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Derek Weston's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clement Lutz was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Clement Lutz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leroy Dalton, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Messi FC's zone, Leroy Dalton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clement Lutz came out of the goal and Leroy Dalton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lawrence Gaillard hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Derek Weston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Clement Lutz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Otto Ragsdale made in the 94th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Messi FC's Emilio Neely. After 95 minutes, Ross Patten mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River Plate Mtl and the Messi FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. River Plate Mtl's Carlos Arsenault played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clark Chevrette in the 96th minute of play. Messi FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
