Nelson Wynn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gérard Dionne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portage's Nelson Wynn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Portage from getting a goal against them. Gérard Dionne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gérard Dionne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Wynn having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Portage got a freekick which was hit by Antwan Culver. Nelson Wynn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gérard Dionne in the 32nd minute of play. Merlin Sellers blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nelson Wynn having to make a save. Reggie Light kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Merlin Sellers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Wynn having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Portage's goal looked a bit too open when Gérard Dionne came free, but Nelson Wynn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Isaac Nixon charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isaac Nixon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Isaac Nixon hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Gérard Dionne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Wynn having to interfere. A collision led to Portage getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Eduardo Clinton hit a great ball. In the 48th minute, Merlin Sellers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Merlin Sellers in the 53rd minute of play forced Portage's goalkeeper Nelson Wynn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute, Gérard Dionne made a precise shot to the right of Nelson Wynn. Portage's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. When Gérard Dionne came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Nova Scotias Finest fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gérard Dionne couldn't finish the play. Antwan Culver's late challenge caught a Nova Scotias Finest's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antwan Culver helped the player get up and apologised. Nelson Wynn came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Nova Scotias Finest's Gérard Dionne. But to his dismay, Gérard Dionne quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Bobbie Paul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nelson Wynn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gérard Dionne in the 79th minute of the match. Merlin Sellers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Wynn having to interfere. With a little luck, Nova Scotias Finest's Xavier Webb got control of the ball when Jeffrey Malone tried to sneak it across the goal line. Merlin Sellers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Merlin Sellers struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Nelson Wynn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nova Scotias Finest. The supporters of Nova Scotias Finest booed when Portage was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicodème Dejesus didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Nova Scotias Finest had played much better football throughout.
