Sherman Harrington ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Montréal City's zone, Sherman Harrington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elliott Jarrett came out of the goal and Sherman Harrington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Dailey in the 30th minute of play forced Montréal City's goalkeeper Elliott Jarrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Montréal City's Deandre Lamour got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute, Bo Timmons got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Montréal City's Elliott Jarrett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignacio Gregory in the 41st minute of play. Jake Roe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Theo Parham made a huge save. Lloyd Lovell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Theo Parham having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sherman Harrington to strike the kick off in the second half. Elliott Jarrett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sherman Harrington, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute.
